When we showed them off at Selfridges’ Christmas press event, they went over a storm, so we’re really hopeful that Makies will find their way into many more homes across the world this holiday season.

World’s first 3D printed toys tipped for Christmas Top Ten at leading retailer
LONDON — 5 AUGUST 2013 – Makies™, the world’s first and only 3D printed toys, hit retail shelves today for the very first time, after captivating press and buyers at Selfridges’ ‘Destination Christmas’ launch event last month.
Makies are 3D printed, poseable dolls designed by you! This cute and compact new Makies Gift Box (£99) allows the recipient to create their very own Makie doll at home on the web, or on an iPad. Choose hair, eyes and clothes, and shape all the facial features to make unique toys with character and personality — creative fun that becomes a truly one-of-a-kind, real-life plaything!
Makie dolls are heirloom toys, CE certified and produced in London: an ideal gift from parents who care about the environment, and moving away from a culture of throwaway, mass-produced goods.
And, fresh from MakieLab’s workshop in Shoreditch, a brand new First Limited Edition series of Makie dolls is also available now at Selfridges. The series consists of four super stylish, jointed character dolls: Curie (shown), Ada, Tesla and Hopper, priced at £199. Each doll is lovingly hand-finished, including faces applied by hand and bespoke fashion, and comes with a numbered Certificate of Creation.
